176 nominations received for Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards

The Australian horseracing and breeding community have thrown their support behind the inaugural Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards with 176 entries submitted for the 2015 Awards. Nominations were received from both regional and metropolitan areas across all states and territories with trainers, owners, stud managers and racing and breeding colleagues keen to recognise the outstanding dedication and hard work of stud and stable staff. John Messara, Chairman of Racing Australia, said: “We are gratified at the enthusiastic response received for these awards in this the inaugural year. The overwhelming support is reflective of the Australian racing and breeding industry and we thank all those who took the time to nominate a member of staff. We look forward to this event firmly establishing itself in the Australian racing calendar.” Tom Reilly, Chief Executive of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia, said: “I am delighted with the response from across all sectors of the racing and breeding industries to the awards- receiving 176 nominations is a fantastic result. Now the hard task really begins and I’m sure the judges will have a tough job ahead of them.” These awards provide an opportunity for the national horseracing and breeding industries to recognise and reward the incredible work of stud and stable staff. The response of 176 nominations is a fantastic result and a credit to all industry participants. There are outstanding staff within the racing and breeding industry and we are excited to be honouring them with the recognition they deserve.” All 176 nominations have been verified and the Shortlisting Committee are now assessing the nominations. A final shortlist of five candidates in each category will be announced in October and submitted to the Judging Panel for final selection of the winners. All nominees will be sent a letter to acknowledge the recognition they have received. The Thoroughbred Excellence Award will be selected from the winners of the Leadership Award; Horsemanship Award; Dedication to Breeding Award; Dedication to Racing Award; and Administration Award and will receive an additional $5000 in prize money, with an additional $4000 awarded to their stud or stable. The winner of this award will be announced at the awards ceremony at the The Stables, Royal Randwick on Tuesday 24th November. All other winners will be recognised during this ceremony.
