Buffering Among Aussie World Cup Entrants

The entries for the world’s richest race day have been submitted and there are a raft of Australian-bred runners which may line up to grab their slice of the US$30 million on offer across the nine race card.

Leading the charge from Down Under is eight year-old gelding Buffering, already the winner of 19 races and almost $6.5 million. Buffering is set to line up in the Al Quoz Sprint over the 1000 metre turf track.

Following his last start win on Magic Millions race day at the Gold Coast, trainer Robert Heathcote outlined an ambitious plan for his stable star.

“Dubai, Hong Kong and back for a spell and back down to Melbourne and back here again this time next year,” he said.

“I just have enormous pride – the dream lives in racing. This horse cost $22,000 and if you want to get into the game and enjoy some of this then get a share in a horse.”

Also possible opponents in the Al Quoz are Hong Kong based Strathmore, Rad and Not Listenin’tome, as well as Banaadeer, Merhee and Sirbible. The Chris Waller trained Delectation also holds and entry for the race, but is believed to be an unlikely starter.

Among the other 41 Australian-bred entries are the Hong Kong dirt specialist Gun Pit, who is entered for the US $10 million World Cup, while South African champion trainer Michael de Kock has 16 entries for Australian-breds.
