Finalists Announced for Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards

The three finalists for each of the six categories in the Australian Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards were announced on Monday.

After 176 entries were submitted for the 2015 Awards from both regional and metropolitan areas across all states and territories in Australia, the judging panel selected three outstanding finalists for each award category.

The winners will be announced exclusively on Sky Thoroughbred Central’s ‘Bred to Win’ on Thursday 12th November and Thursday 19th November, 2015 and presented with their prizes at the inaugural Australian Awards ceremony which will be held at the The Stables, Royal Randwick on Tuesday, 24th November, 2015.

The winner of each of the categories will receive a cash prize of $10,000 and a trophy. The two runners-up in each of these categories will receive $500 each. An additional $2,000 will also be awarded to the winner’s yard or stud.

Warren Hughes – Stable Foreman, McEvoy Mitchell Racing (SA)
Mark Newnham – Assistant Trainer, Gai Waterhouse Racing (NSW)

Horsemanship Award
Ben Cadden – Trackwork Rider, Chris Waller (NSW)
Scott Eeles – Breaking Foreman, Darley Stud (NSW)
Stephen O’Halloran – Senior Foreman, Gai Waterhouse Racing (NSW)

Thoroughbred Care and Welfare Award
Amy Taylor – Owner, Manager & Trainer, Affinity Park Thoroughbreds (QLD)
Lee Purchase – Stable Foreman, Darren Weir Racing (VIC)
William Adam – Trainer, NSW TB Rehab Trust (NSW)

Dedication to Breeding Award

Bernadette Hamill – Stud Manager, Yarradale Stud (WA)
Gerard Ryan – Stallion Manager, Coolmore Stud (NSW)

Leadership Award
Richard Nettleton – Farm Manager, David Hayes Racing (VIC)
Brian Gorman – Operations Manager, Swettenham Stud (VIC)
John Livingstone – Director of Operations, Gai Waterhouse Racing (NSW)

The overall winner of the Thoroughbred Excellence Award will be selected from the winners of five of the six categories above, excluding the administration award, and will be announced exclusively at the awards ceremony on Tuesday, 24th November, 2015. They will receive a trophy and an additional $5,000 personally, with another $4,000 awarded to their yard or stud.
