Numbers Soar At Magic Millions Ready To Run

Averages reached spectacular heights at last week’s 2015 edition of the Magic Millions 2YOs In Training Sale on the Gold Coast with a strong international buying contingent helping to push up prices. At a sale where the top price of $300,000 for a Northern Meteor colt eclipsed the previous year’s best of $230,000, the average was up a massive 71 per cent to $62,486 with a median of $43,750. In all, 138 2YOs sold for $8.6 million, some $2.5 million more than was grossed for 166 lots in 2014. “A truly spectacular result by every measure,” said Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox. “The vendors are to be congratulated on preparing and presenting an exceptional bunch of two-year-olds and vendors across the board were well rewarded. “From a Magic Millions perspective it was tremendously rewarding to be a part of one of the most genuine two-year-old sales ever conducted with a clearance rate of over 80 per cent,” he added. Singapore led the way for international buyers with 25 lots purchased for a total spend of over $1.6 million. All up nine countries and four states of Australia were represented among buyers. The top-priced colt (pictured), by Northern Meteor from the unraced Testa Rossa mare Seduction Lane, was purchased by David Raphael and offered by Raheen Stud.
