Anthony Thompson

Antony Thompson is the seventh-generation member of the Thompson family to be actively involved in Widden Stud, founded in 1867 and home to breed-shaping sires such as Todman, Vain, and Marscay. He worked with trainer John Morish as well as stints at Ra Ora Stud and Cambridge Stud in New Zealand, Vinery Kentucky, and later with Luke Lillingston, the prominent European-based bloodstock agent.

Widden Stud is located in the South Western corner of the Hunter Valley, and is home to sires Zoustar, Trapeze Artist and Jacquinot. Set on 8,000 acres, the farm is bordered by the Wollemi World Heritage National Park. Group One horses raised at Widden Stud include Zougotcha, Climbing Star and Griff.
