Plenty Of Interest In Happy Trails Relation At Adelaide

Happy Trails has been a poster boy for South Australian racing in recent years and his half brother by All Too Hard is set to be sold at the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Magic Millions’ Adrian Hancock believes the colt from Madame Flurry will attract plenty of attention when the sale kicks off on March 14.

“Paul Beshara has good interest in the colt, as do several other trainers so we are hopeful he will be popular,” he said.

Happy Trails is the only stakes winner from Madame Flurry, but she has also produced Danish Twist, who is under the care of Kris Lees in New South Wales.

Darren Weir’s powerful three-year-old Mahuta, who is due to run in Saturday’s Group 1 Australian Guineas, was purchased for just $35,000 from the draft of Redbank North at the 2014 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville.

His success on the Gold Coast in January and the increased prizemoney levels for the $10 million race day has Hancock expecting competition to be strong when the bidding gets underway.

“I think there is a lot of positive energy towards the sale because people can find a little more value in Adelaide and still get the opportunity to race for big money,” he said.

“Mahuta is a perfect example, horses bought from Adelaide can be competitive at the Gold Coast and throughout the rest of the year.Hussonet-Standing-2006

“Augusta Proud won the Magic Millions Classic, Deiheros won the Guineas.”

Cornerstone Stud has the biggest draft of the sale with 49 yearlings, 17 of those by Hussonet (pictured right).

The 25-year-old stallion enjoyed a good weekend as the dam sire of Blue Diamond winner Extreme Choice and then Contentment winning the Group 1 Queen’s Silver Jubilee in Hong Kong on Sunday night.

Contentment was sent to Hong Kong after trialing in Victoria under the care of Patrick Payne.

He was purchased for $65,000 at the 2012 Inglis Classic Sale and is now being aimed at the Champions Mile after recording his ninth win from 16 starts.
