Goldin Farms Hoping To Lead Adelaide Once Again

Goldin Farms made an immediate impact with their debut draft at the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale last year, producing the equal top lot sold for $220,000.

And stud manager Andrew Perryman is hopeful a Sebring filly they’re offering (pictured) can be just as popular when the sale starts next Monday.

Owned by Hong Kong businessman Mr Pan Suntong, Goldin Farms has quickly established itself as a leading player in the South Australia breeding scene in the past two years and are offering nine high-quality yearlings at the Magic Millions sale.

“We’ve got a Sebring filly out of Aussie Crawl that we are hopeful will be popular with buyers,” Perryman said.

“Aussie Crawl is a daughter of Freestyle, who won a Breeders’ Stakes (Group 2) and a Dequetteville Stakes (Listed) here in Adelaide.”

Eight of the nine yearlings offered by Goldin Farms are fillies, with an I Am Invincible out of Calemore the only colt.

“Now that you can sex test mares in foals, farms weren’t offering mares in foal that were carrying colts,” Perryman said.

“So when we were building our broodmare band we’ve ended up with mostly fillies.”

Goldin Farms, which purchased Lindsay Park in 2013, has 150 horses on the property, with 45 foals by Akeed Mofeed to be weaned.

Mr Suntong raced Akeed Mofeed in Hong Kong, winning the Hong Kong Derby and Hong Kong Cup in 2013.

“The plan is to race the majority of Akeed Mofeed’s,” Perryman said.

“We’ve built a nice band of broodmares to support him and the Akeed Mofeed’s appear to have a great temperament, much like their old man.”
